It’s been a long time since I’ve blogged—and I mean really blogged. Sure, I have a blog on Tumblr that mostly consists of images of naked men, but it’s been a long time since I’ve expressed myself in written form (not including my fictional works). In the Hey Day of MySpace, I used to blog all the time, writing about the funny, weird, obnoxious, and depressing moments in my life. Once sites like Face Book and Twitter became more popular, and more concise, brief status updates became the norm, I slowly drifted away from blogging. My goal is to update this blog at least once a week, highlighting those funny, weird, obnoxious, and depressing moments in my life. I’ll start with what’s been happening with me recently.
This past Thursday, I drove from the Bay Area to Palm Springs, CA, which in total was an eight hour drive, in order to attend the Blatino Oasis (for those of you who do not know what it is, think of it as the annual White Party, but with mostly Black people). It was a weekend away, to enjoy the sun, drink excessively, meet sexy guys, party, and just enjoy being away from the usual humdrum of life. However, a major reason for my attending this event was to promote my novel, “Shadow”, which is the first book in a ten volume series, about a group of gay male friends with paranormal abilities (it’s not as corny as it may sound…I swear). Up until this point, I had done much of my promotion of the book—as well as other titles that I’ve written—almost exclusively on the internet. So this was one of the first occasions where I was promoting the book in person. To my surprise, people were actually intrigued by the premise of the book. I only brought along a dozen copies of the book with me, since I believed that not too many people would be interested in a book about gay psychics. Yet I turned out to be wrong.
Speaking of the book, I’ve currently finished the first three volumes of the books: “Shadow”, “Anomaly”, and “Echo”. I plan to start working on the fourth volume next month, with a release date of October 2012…if everything goes right. (By the way, I am a self-published writer). In the meantime, I’m finishing the follow-up to a story I released this past February, called “Daydreamer”. The follow-up, which is still untitled, should be available later this month.
Anyway, the Palm Springs mini-vacation was a success for me. I accomplished everything I wanted: got a nice tan (even though I’m already brown-skinned to begin with) met a lot of hot guys (good times were had), drank excessively, and just had an overall good time…although my bank account will be suffering for at least a month. It was nice to get away from the stress of my day-to-day job and my ‘normal’ life, even it was for a few days. I can’t wait for the next time I take a vacation—which will probably be several months from now, once my bank account gets off of life support.
Anyway, that’s enough for right now. Like I said, I will try to update this as often as I can, hopefully with some interesting topics. Until then…see ya.
